Back in 2006, I convinced six of my MCC Penn Valley Biology students to walk with me for extra credit. They knew I'd been a sexuality educator since before the epidemic began and they figured "why not?" Over the years since then, the commitment grew, the team grew, and the fundraising grew. Now retired, I still raise money and walk, no matter where I am. As viruses go, HIV is not the only one to be concerned about these days. But the story of HIV/AIDS is unique in that, after a such a tragic beginning and the loss of so many souls, there is a light on the horizon. Where there is light, there is hope. Let's be sure that HIV stays undetectable and untransmissible, and let's raise money to support dignity, dispel stigma and strive for no new infections!
