When is it? How long is it?
Rain or Shine, AIDS WALK Kansas City 2017 will be held on Saturday, April 29th in Theis Park (Theis Park is located at the intersection of Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard & Oak Street, east of the Plaza, just south of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art). The WALK is 3.5 miles long and takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete. Registration opens at 8:00 am, a fantastic program music and fun begins at 9:00 am & at 10 am We WALK! Parking info is in the section below.
Where is Theis Park?
Theis Park is across the street from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art at Oak and 47th Street (Emanuel Cleaver Boulevard). Here’s a map. You can park on the streets surrounding Theis Park or you can park in the UMKC Cherry St. Parking garage which is at the corner of 50th and Oak.
How much does it cost?
It’s free. No charge to walk. We ask walkers to create a fundraising page online and recruit your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to support you as you raise money (and awareness) to beat this disease.

When you raise $100, you get a limited-edition 2017 AIDS WALK Memorial T-shirt

For $1000 in donations, everything above plus an exclusive invitation for two to an AIDS WALK Thank You Party.

What’s a team?
Everybody loves to walk with friends, coworkers and family. It's easy to create your own team. Many teams make their own shirts, bring picnics and throw fundraising parties before the Walk. More information about how to create a winning team is in our download section here. You still get your individual prizes even if you’re a part of a team.
What are the white banners?
That’s part of the Memorial Team. They’re a group of families and friends who have lost someone to AIDS. Many of them have been walking with us since the first year of the walk, 29 years ago. The names they honor also appear on the memorial T-shirt you get when you raise $100. To learn more about the Memorial Team, click here.
I need to download forms, receipts and team information. Where are these?
The download page is here. Download away!

Does AIDS WALK only raise money on April 30th?
Not any more. Because of federal and state budget cuts, more help is needed in Kansas City than ever. Fundraising for AIDS Walk is a year-round adventure. There’s always something going on! For current parties and events, click here.
Check out the Calendar for both AIDS WALK events and other events for organizations fighting HIV/AIDS locally.
