The 33rd Annual AIDS Walk campaign has begun, marking the 17th year I have walked with Metropolitan Community College MCC WOLVES, having raised over $32,000. What a year this has been...in 2020 Kansas City was among the first nonprofits to attempt a Virtual Walk due to CoViD19, and it was a smashing success. Here's to an even better 2021!
Did you know that there are 1.2 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the US today, but 14% of these people are not aware of their infection? The virus continues to disproportionately affect racial and ethnic minorities and gay and bisexual men.
Please donate to benefit more than 5,700 men, women and children in Kansas City affected by HIV/AIDS. Contributions made to AIDS Walk Kansas City benefit equally the KC Care Health Center (low- or no-cost medical care), SAVE Inc. (housing solutions), Thrive Health Connection (general wellness services) and Hope Care Center (long term care nursing facility).
2021 brings many gifts: a new dawn of awareness of people who suffer, an expansion of frames of reference for healing and improving life, and many challenges to previously held beliefs. Knowledge is power, and science is real. Let's move forward together to continue our battle with this epidemic.
