Phil Griffin

Thank you for visiting. This cause is very dear to me, and I'll appreciate all the support I can get!

In 1994, I lost my significant other, Chuck Vickers to his long and hard fought battle with AIDS. He was the 144th personal friend I had lost at that point, after which I quick counting. I am grateful today that there have been so many advances in care and treatment that an HIV diagnosis no longer has to be given without hope for a future. Today people can not only live with HOV, but they can also have the virus held at bay with undetectable viral loads which means they will not transmit the virus.

With all the advances over the quarter century since Chuck's death. there is much to celebrate today, but the need for ongoing education and support of HIV services remains an important issue. There is still no cure for HIV. The treatments have many side effects and create many other issues for those who live with HIV. Treatment is expensive. Life changes are difficult. Stigma is still present.

I promised Chuck that his life did and will always make a difference. I stand strong on my memories and all that I learned about life through the joy that Chuck lived his life right up to the end.

I truly appreciate anything you can give to help support this effort and the 2019 KC AIDS Walk. Together we can make a difference! Best - Phil
