WHO WE ARE
AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City
Mission: The mission of the AIDS Service Foundation is to raise awareness and funding for local service organizations which provide shelter, medical
care and emergency services to the women, men and children living with HIV/AIDS in our community.
History: In 1992, leaders from the four primary AIDS service organizations in Kansas City: Kansas City Free Health Clinic, SAVE Inc., Good
Samaritan Project and HARCMart joined together to create a cooperative fundraising strategy. Putting aside organizational agendas, these leaders
formed the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City. Each founding organization contributed $5000 to initially fund the foundation and placed
two representatives on the board to serve with a diverse group of directors from the Kansas City community. In January 2007, HARCMart ceased operations
and Hope Care Center was named the fourth beneficiary of the AIDS Service Foundation.
Events: Now in its 20th year, AIDS WALK Kansas City is the primary fundraising event of the AIDS Service Foundation. When you raise money and
awareness for AIDS WALK, you help local organizations receive funding crucial to the success of their HIV/AIDS programs. The foundation also
generates funds for our beneficiaries through the World AIDS Day reception, the AIDS Bicycle Challenge and KC Beerfest.
