My AIDS Walk Kansas City 2024 Fundraising Page

In 2019 I went outside of my comfort zone and joined a group called, "Mom and Dad Huggers" who's mission was to represent a parent's hug to someone who has been rejected by family because of their sexual orientation. If you know, me well, you know I'm not much of a hugger, but this one got me and seemed like something I could do. So, I grabbed Bill and we signed up.

The first and only event we got to participate in was AIDS WALK KC where we could be present for not only the LBGT+ community, but for the many people, of all ages and life circumstances who have been impacted by AIDS.

I had no idea the impact, just showing up could make. We were asked to carry memorial flags for people who had lost their life to AIDS.These flags had names of someone, given to them by family members. I felt honored to carry the flag. Little did I know that some family members were on the look out for their loved one's flag. This couple in my photo, stopped me and thanked us for carrying their brother's name throughout the walk ,so he was not forgotten. I hugged them both and we all cried, thankful for the opportunity.
This year, Bill and I walk with a team from Old Mission United Methodist Church.

Please help me support AIDS WALK Kansas City by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance AIDS WALK Kansas City's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
And If you donate, thank you. You've got a hug coming your way!
Together, we can make a difference!
